THE GRAND FINALE

Your wedding day is going to be a beautifully orchestrated event…afterall you put much time, money, love, and perhaps part of your soul into the journey leading up to this moment. However, no matter how hard you planned for perfection, events will always benefit from thoughtful and clear directions. So here’s your sign…wedding signage is where it’s at!

What is Wedding Signage?

Wedding signage is a term used to describe any kind of wording that communicates information to your guests.  This can include seating charts, welcome signs, table numbers, place and escort cards, menu boards, bar menus and signature drink signs…you get the idea.  Your wedding signs can range from very simple to extremely elaborate matching the ambience of the special day. Wedding signage has essentially become an integral part of wedding decor.

Why is it Important?

Wedding signage keeps guests in the loop about the schedule and the timeline of the day.  Most wedding planners will tell you that it is an organizational must. The truth is that wedding signage can help your guests quickly locate significant areas and activities throughout the day, making an event efficient and enjoyable for everyone.  Giving your guests signals to sign the guestbook, try a signature drink or sit in the right spot at the reception is a fantastic way to keep a nice flow throughout the day all while adding to your decor aesthetic.

Signage can embellish and add detail to your wedding design. While it provides information and organization, it also helps to pull together your vision. It adds an element of elegance and direction, without ever sacrificing the beauty of your day.  Signage can be fun, whimsical, timeless, classic or rustic…matching it to your theme is half the fun.  Whether you are looking for something big and grand, making it a centerpiece of the room, or minimalist and just doing its job, your wedding signage can be whatever you make it.

Here’s What You Need

Wedding Ceremony Signage

Kick off your wedding festivities with a Welcome Sign and then quickly keep them informed with a sign announcing the Order or Events. Letting your guests know what they can look forward to with a timeline providing information about the time and place of significant events such as the exchanging of vows, cocktail hour, the first dance, dinner, cake cutting and send off.  Giving your guests an idea of the timeframe will ensure they don’t miss a thing.

Letting your guests know if you plan on having an unplugged ceremony will also require signage and give your guests the cue to turn off their cameras and phones and leave it to the professionals.  If you want your friends and family to be fully present in the moment, an Unplugged Ceremony Sign will give them a heads up. Furthermore, if you are asking the first few rows be reserved for your wedding party or very special guests, you can hang Reserved Signage so that guests will be aware of where they should seat themselves, minimizing confusion right before the ceremony begins.

If you love the idea of wedding signage and want more for your ceremony, we love…

  • Pick a Side not a Seat: if you are using an open seating plan.
  • Bride’s Side/Groom’s Side: if you plan on keeping the family and friends of each together.
  • Ceremony Program Sign: if you are looking to save money on wedding day stationery, one sign listing the timeline and VIP’s in the ceremony can be front and center as guests enter the ceremony space so they know what to expect.
  • Wedding Hashtag Sign: if you are not unplugged and are dying for all the pictures and videos from all the angles, make sure to display this where everyone can see.
  • Wedding Confetti Sign: If you would like to be showered in love…and confetti (rose petals, bubbles, etc), you can provide signage so that your guests know to take a little “something something” to join in in dousing the happy couple.

Wedding Reception Signage

Whether you prefer an organized seating plan or are just as happy with your guests choosing their own seats, display the details at the reception entrance.  In our experience, the Seating Chart is often a piece of the decor in its own regard.  Your seating chart will be the informative decor that allows your family and friends to find their seats without massive confusion and disorder.  In addition to the seating chart, Table Number signs are also imperative…whether you use numbers or words to signify memorable moments in your journey, these will help guide your guests to where they should be sitting after stopping off at the seating chart.

If you and your beloved are offering signature drinks or any special libations that represent your love, a Signature Drink sign or Bar Menu are ideal.  Letting your guests know about any special drinks being offered will help ensure that these drinks get the spotlight they deserve.   Once again if you choose to minimize the wedding stationary or are choosing for buffet style opt for Menu Signage to allow guests to know what is being offered for dinner.  Your sweet confections can also be advertised with a Dessert Display Sign complete with the “opening hours” to keep your display looking fabulous until after the main course.

Once again, if you are digging the signage decor, we have a few more ideas that you can include in your wedding reception signage…

  • Guest Comforts: invite guests to use some items that are provided for their comfort; this can include fans for hot summer nuptials, parasols to shield from the sun, cozy blankets for cool weather weddings and comfy shoes to give the guests no excuses when it comes to dancing the night away.
  • Food Allergens/Special Restrictions: if you have guests that have food allergies or special restrictions, Food Markers are both extremely important and helpful signage for your guests to navigate the food selection.
  • Guest Favors: don’t let your friends and family leave without taking home their favors.  Placing a small sign next to the thank you gifts will help ensure they do not get left behind.
  • Wedding Entertainment: if you have fun and unique entertainment that you don’t want your guests to miss out on, offer signage to point them in the right direction; don’t forget to add a timeline if needed.  Think live painters, a fun photo booth, unique guest book ideas, or fun outdoor games…signs will help loved ones get involved and draw attention to these cool guest experiences.
  • Neon Signs: have your name in lights…if only for a moment.  Neon Signs of the married couple’s name or a sweet saying are the perfect photo backdrop and a fun touch to your wedding decor.
  • Send Off Signage: if you are having a special send off, offering details about the time and place of the send off will help direct your guests where they need to be to celebrate your grand exit.

It is safe to say I love signs, they are the simple way to personalize your wedding decor.  And while these signs will add order and organization to your wedding day, it can also be a fun element that enhances the aesthetics of your celebration.  Giving your guests the details they need to navigate your ceremony and reception while also adding to the ambiance…tell me what’s not to love?
