THE GRAND FINALE

This year’s Pantone Color of the Year is Mocha Mousse.  At first glance, this gray-brown shade may make you question the winning choice, but we promise this hue will not disappoint.  This sophisticated yet earthy neutral can work across many different aesthetics and wedding styles. We think this champion shade works for minimalist and modern all the way to rustic and timeless elegance.

This year’s color of the year is capturing a global mood of connectivity, comfort and harmony.  A calm hue with the ability to “play nicely” with so many of the soft muted colors that are very common in weddings while also being able to accompany deep bold colors, giving them the mirth and lightness they need.  Mocha Mousse is a warming, brown hue absorbed in richness. It is a soothing color that nurtures us with its suggestion of chocolate and coffee…creature comforts that we sometimes desire when life gives us moments that are less than perfect.

Choosing the perfect color palette sets the tone for your big day and including a neutral color in the line up is always a great idea. Mocha Mousse can be used in your linens, tent draping or for a pop of color in your initiation suite, and is a nice change from stark white or cool grays.  The Pantone Color of the Year invites guests to relax, linger and savor each moment.  This soft chocolatey tone will not overpower, but rather blend in with the rest of your color palette.

With the comforting richness of a well-crafted latte, this color is upscale yet inviting.  It works as the perfect canvas for a breathtaking tablescape or a flattering bridesmaid dress. Mocha Mousse is the “new neutral in town” and we love the endless possibilities for this showstopper. Whether you are looking to give this color its own design moment, or want it as a muted undertone for the rest of your palette, Mocha Mousse will deliver.

If you are unsure of how exactly to incorporate this color into your wedding vision, here are some ideas we have dreamt up…

  •  Instead of a stark white cake, think of a muted taupe as the backdrop for beautiful blush florals cascading down the side.  This is an extremely unique color when it comes to wedding cakes, but neutral enough to be the ideal confectionary canvas for anything you want.
  • Elevate your dance floor by incorporating a Mocha Mousse pattern into it. A twist on the classic black and white checkered floor is a great way to avoid a stark color contrast.  This muted pairing will also keep your guest’s line of sight on more important things like your tablescape and flowers and most importantly…you!
  • Add some depth and break up the monochrome by using Mocha Mousse in your draping.  This romantic color is the perfect way to add softness to your wedding design, especially if you are using a lot of white.
  • If you are looking for something other than the traditional black tux for your groom’s attire, consider dressing your handsome men in mocha.  Add some black lapels for a stunning and out of the box look.  This look will not sacrifice style and gives the perfect black tie edge.

Whether you go chocolate chic with your florals, or offer an espresso martini tower…this neutral dynamo is certain to find its way into your wedding color palette. Although most wouldn’t consider this color for a wedding design, it is the perfect tie-in to so many other wedding colors.   Use it for linens, drapes or gowns…make it dynamic or keep it muted…however you use it, its tonal richness is sure to bring comfort and harmony to your wedding day.
