When you are not dealing with the dead of winter or the scalding summer, your dress and suit options seem much more abundant. In the winter you most likely want long sleeves, heavy fabrics, or some type of covering to keep warm and in the summer the idea of long sleeves would send most brides and grooms into an overheated tizzy.  Spring, however, affords you the option of either. For a Spring wedding, you have no restrictions when it comes to your style…and that goes for your wedding party as well.

A Bit More Flexibility 

A Spring wedding gives you the opportunity to have both indoor and outdoor locations during the course of the day. For example, you can have your ceremony outside and bask in nature’s beauty and then move the reception inside just in case the weather decides to take an unexpected turn or dips in temperature. Giving your guests the opportunity to move in and out of the reception area, makes your wedding seem more dimensional and gives guests the option of freedom and movement, which we think is a lovely touch. 

The Cons of a Spring Wedding 

Prices Rise…as does Demand 

With the nice weather, so comes the desire to get married.  With the surge in popularity, after a somewhat dormant winter, the increase in price is inevitable. As the weather gets warmer the demand for everything wedding rises; couples begin to vie for sought-after dates, desired venues get booked and wedding planners and vendors have less and less availability.  So keep in mind that with all the perks of a Spring wedding also comes the increase in demand.  Planner’s tip: if you plan on tying the knot in the Spring, begin planning and booking 12-18 months in advance to have your pick of the best of the best. 

Unpredictable Weather

Although the weather is becoming warmer, we do have to remember that Spring does also have its unpredictability. In some areas, it can still be a little chilly, while in other areas we may have to deal with some inconsistent rain patterns. The best plan to overcome any weather issues is to always have an indoor rain plan in place.Make sure to also keep your guests in mind and provide them with any reinforcements they may need if the weather does take an unexpected turn (cue the cute clear umbrellas). 

Friendly Competition 

If you are in the age range where all of your friends are beginning to tie the knot, you may encounter some “friendly” competition. Choosing a date amongst all of the other weddings that are being planned can get very tricky, and there are only so many Spring weekends to go around. We certainly can’t blame everyone for wanting to get married in the Spring. Just keep in mind that vying for dates amongst your friends can sometimes be a recipe for disaster. Our advice to you, keep an open mind and try to be flexible without becoming a push over. 

Allergy Season 

With all of the beauty comes sneezing and itchy eyes…ahhh Spring. If you are a victim to allergies, Spring can be a tremendously hard time for you. Take into consideration how you react to the environment around you before planning your Spring wedding. We all love a blushing bride, but puffy eyes and a runny nose, may not make for the best photographs. Perhaps the end of Spring, once everything has bloomed, is a better option for anyone that suffers from seasonal allergies.

Spring is a splendid time for weddings, however your wedding is beautiful and unique because of your love story not because of the season. So bask in the fact that no matter what season you choose, your love will shine through at any time of the year.
