THE GRAND FINALE

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…even for flowers.  Believe it or not, just because it’s cold, it doesn’t mean a winter bride has to settle on her blooms. There are plenty of flowers that are at their peak season during the frosty months.  Beautiful, lush flowers are essentially at your fingertips; not to mention the floral accents that represent this festive season.  Stick around if you want to learn more about all that blossoms in this chilly, but magical season.

Pops of Color and a Touch of Red

While some color palettes work all year, there are definitely a handful that really pop during the winter months.   Combining rich red and deep purple blooms can give off a moody and sultry vibe against a winter backdrop.  Red is the essence of love and evokes the idea of romance. Don’t be afraid to try different  sanguine hues while you are at it…crimson, maroon and plum are deep shades of red that truly embrace the season’s most popular color.   A jewel toned combination of burgundy, ruby red, amethyst and sapphire can help set a festive tone for a December wedding.

Simple Winter White

Having a bouquet to match the snowy landscape is always an enchanting way to  complement the season. The options for white florals are endless.  Consider white roses, ranunculus, and hydrangea.  If you decide on an all white bouquet, we suggest going big and dramatic for a blizzard of “oohs and aahs” as you walk down the aisle.  Furthermore, if you want to accent your beautiful white sprays, we suggest eucalyptus, evergreen or velvety dusty miller to give a soft accent to your stark white blooms.

Holiday Inspired

If a Christmas wedding is your vision, a festive holiday inspired bouquet is exactly what you need.   Is it me, or do we immediately think of poinsettia and holly when it comes to Christmas? While it is emblematic of the holidays and a  beautiful way to decorate your home, it is not the best option for a bride’s blooms.  A red amaryllis is a gorgeous, standout option for a dramatic and breathtaking look. You can also think beyond the traditional red and green palette and incorporate various hues of both for a softer more festive look into your bouquet.  Another stunning option is to focus on the sparkling elements that depict holiday glitz and glamor. Eucalyptus, silver brunia, and blush roses are the perfect way to incorporate the cool-toned sparkle of Christmas.

Textures and Accents

Winter is a great time to incorporate textures and accents into your wedding flowers.  It goes without saying; pinecones, berries, fresh and lush greenery are all symbolic of winter, but there are so many other accents that brides can use to really up the ante.  Think about a  bouquet of sparkling brooches, adorned with feathers as you walk down the aisle. Velvety ribbons and ruby red pomegranates, gold satin ribbon and magnolia leaves, leaf sprigs, acorns, puffs of cotton and dried artichokes; the options to embrace this chilly yet beautiful season are endless.

It’s called a winter wonderland for a reason!  Winter’s beautiful backdrop cannot help but make colors pop, textures feel cozier, and the natural elements of the season stand out.  No matter what flowers you decide, accenting it with beautiful winter touches is a surefire way to embrace the beauty of this season.
