EMBRACING THE JOURNEY

We'll execute the event you've always dreamed of and allow you to feel like a guest at your own event.

THE GRAND FINALE

Autumn in this region is absolutely magical: golden leaves, crisp air, clear skies, vineyard backdrops, soft light, but it’s also unpredictable. Temperatures can swing, afternoon showers pop up, wind gusts and early darkness all become risks. My philosophy is this: plan for beauty and the unexpected, so your event feels seamless, even if it rains, gets chilly, or daylight fades sooner than anticipated.

Here are some strategies to ensure your fall wedding is luxe, comfortable, and memorable for you and your guests:

Back Up Plans and Indoor Options

Always choose a venue (or rental plan) where you can shift elements indoors or under cover. Whether it’s a tent, veranda, hall, or ballroom, make sure you have the option. Do a walk-through of both your ideal outdoor plan and the indoor fallback.

Heating and Cooling Flexibility

Even in fall, temperatures can drop sharply after sunset. Having space heaters, fire pits, heated or enclosed patios, and warm wraps or shawls available will go a long way. Conversely, a sunny fall afternoon might still bring warmth; shade, fans, or lighter fabrics help.

Lighting and Timing

With shorter days, schedule key moments (ceremony, couple and family portraits, first dances) earlier so you benefit from golden hour. Supplement natural light with ambient lighting: lanterns, string lights, uplighting, candles. Warm light adds richness in fall and helps with photography when daylight wanes.

Weather Friendly Decor and Flooring

Think about footing (wet grass, mud, fallen leaves): have pathways, rugs, stable surfaces for high-heels. Covered walkways or awnings for guest transitions (from guest parking to ceremony, cocktail to reception). Use décor elements that can handle moisture or wind (secure signage, heavier centerpieces, wind-friendly florals).

Guest Comfort Stations

Little touches elevate the guest experience and buffer the weather: provide blankets or wraps, umbrellas (stylish ones), hand warmers, maybe even thermos stations with warm drinks (spiced cider, tea, hot chocolate). For cooler evenings, consider a fire pit or warmed lounge with cozy seating and blankets.

Communication and Weather Alerts

Use a wedding website, group text, or app to share backup info: “if weather requires, ceremony will be in the barn behind the lawn,” etc. Let guests know dress expectations (layers, closed-toe shoes, maybe boots). Provide clear signage day-of so guests know where to go.

Food and Drink That Warms

Fall flavors are a delight, but also, menu items that comfort in cooler air: warm soups, seasonal pies, hot beverages. Maybe a late-night “warm treat” like cider or coffee with something sweet can be welcome as the air chills.

While fall is beautiful, it is also fickle. We can not stress enough how important it is to have a “back up plan” for any of the curveballs Mother Nature may throw your way.  Being prepared ahead of time, especially when it comes to weddings, is always a good idea!  Remember even the most breathtaking moments in nature can be ever changing.  The wonderful thing about planning for wedding weather is that sometimes your favors are born out of it.
