“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.”
The most sincere form of admiration and gratitude can often come in simple words of praise and recognition. Those words can start a ripple effect that can reach far beyond what was intended…and to some there is no better “thank you”.
A glowing review in the wedding industry is the highest form of thanks and appreciation and it goes without saying that a few kind words can increase the chance of a vendor “landing” a wedding client tenfold. Authentic feedback from actual clients is potentially the purest form of advertising. Here are some stats to help drive home just how important writing a review is:
92% of consumers will hesitate to close a deal if there are no reviews.
97% of clients claim that the reviews they read influence their purchase decisions.
84% of customers trust online reviews as much as they trust recommendations from friends.
75% of people online trust a company more after reading a positive review.
We know that after your wedding, the idea of having to do more “work” can seem daunting…we get it. There is no shame in taking a break from “wedding stuff”, enjoying your honeymoon and spending a little time together as newlyweds. However, we think circling back after a slight pause and writing a review can really help drive home just how much you appreciate your dream team.
First and foremost, reviews breathe life into a business. Word of mouth is based on trust and personal relationships, it operates on the idea that people trust what others have to say, more so, than they trust other marketing principles. Writing a review is basically word of mouth advertising that is documented for all the world to see. This is a whole new level of transparency that service businesses thrive on. A positive review can really help a company grow a business. Wedding vendors are mostly small business owners, so sharing your gratitude for their services is not only the best thank you they can receive but also a great way for them to gain some positive headway in this competitive industry.
When you put your gratitude into words and leave them on a platform for newly engaged couples to read, it is a selfless way to pay it forward. Not only are you boosting the vendor’s business, you are also helping a fellow couple who is beginning their planning journey. Believe it or not, engaged couples are all about reviews. A stellar review from a couple that had an extraordinary experience is as good as its weight in gold. Think of it this way…the breathtaking photos and engaging website is the “window shopping” and the review is the acknowledgement needed to close the deal. So go ahead and write those reviews to help out both your dream team, as well as, newly engaged couples.
A review is also what many publications will base their awards and recognition on. Many companies will look to a client’s point of view to see if a vendor is worthy of the accolade. Wedding planners and wedding vendors put their heart and soul into their client’s vision of what a dream wedding looks like, so when the couple pays them back by writing a glowing review it can create more awareness than they ever really consider…remember that ripple effect?
So now that we can honestly say we understand just how important a review is to many different people, let’s talk about what you should include in your review to make it a worthwhile read. First and foremost, be specific but tell a story. Details are important! Think about what key traits this specific vendor portrayed. It was likely a story of how this person took your dream vision and brought it to life, or took photos of your day that mimic works of art. Focus on what made them so special and so dynamic, what helped them to stand out or dare I say, save the day!
Use past reviews for inspiration if you are experiencing writer’s block, there is no shame in looking at what your peers said about this amazing vendor. Sometimes, it is just the push you need to write something fantastic about your dream team. If you are still feeling unsure about the tone of your review, here are some of our favorite examples…
“My wife and I can’t possibly say enough good things about the Anyvent Team. They truly exceeded all of our expectations. The planning process was smooth and they worked tirelessly to ensure our asks were met, except for the few asks she talked us out of (they were right). The wedding day itself was amazing. The way the day came together was beyond our imaginations!”
-Andrew H. Married July 2024
“RUN don’t walk to hire the Anyvent team. They are the absolute dream team. When we first met with them, we were scattered with a thousand different ideas. They took our loose vision and executed our DREAM wedding. Every single detail was accounted for and absolutely stunning.”
-Megan S. Married October 2024
If giving a star rating is available, make sure to back up those stars with some words. Giving a five star rating is truly appreciated but, alone, is often passed over by other couples. Most people are looking for honest to goodness words about the vendor that they can hang their hat on. Afterall, we all need some validation. If including photos is an option, we strongly recommend incorporating images of the work that this specific vendor did. Florists and wedding planners work hard to make your wedding beautiful so go ahead and show off their extraordinary work for a little extra kudos.
Taking some time to show your gratitude to your wedding dream team will always be appreciated but can also be extremely helpful to their business. If you feel that this vendor went above and beyond for you, then showing them some grace should come naturally. Whether they took your most important day and transformed it into something magical, gave you breathtaking tangible memories or just simply put you at ease, they most certainly deserve some love.
