A New Year’s Bucket List for Newlyweds

We'll have a thorough and very transparent conversation at the beginning of our process about the numbers and create a customized budget for you to map things out. This is key to keeping us on track during our planning journey and will allow you to feel in full control over one of the most stressful aspects of planning.

EMBRACING THE JOURNEY

We'll execute the event you've always dreamed of and allow you to feel like a guest at your own event.

THE GRAND FINALE

Starting off the new year, we always think about what resolutions we are going to make, what goals we are going to set and what we are going to give up to make ourselves better.  But…what if we are already our best selves??  Okay, okay maybe not, but we can dream…For those that have decided to skip the whole resolution/goal thing, but still want to make 2025 the best it can be…we introduce a New Year’s Bucket List.  Whether you are newly wed, newly engaged or deep in the planning process…a bucket list may be just what you need to spark some excitement in your life.

At any point in your relationship it is vital to keep things spicy and find new ways to connect. Memorable experiences are essential in your togetherness and a significant aspect in your growth.  Your wedding day should not be the pinnacle of your excitement as a married couple, but just the first step.  And while we know that life often gets the best of us, remembering to do things here and there, no matter how grand, is the first step in building a long lasting marriage.

Take a Road Trip

A road trip is always an adventure, you never really know the people you’ll meet or the new places you will find.  A road trip is a great opportunity to learn something new about your partner and spend some quality “one on one” time together.  A road trip is one of the best ways to experience a region while also having its own relationship boosting benefits. Whether you take a three hour trip or decide to drive across the country, a road trip is the perfect way to explore new places, enjoy local cuisine and bask in the glow of each other’s presence.

Write Each Other a Love Letter

Remember when writing love notes was the only form of written communication between a couple. Passing notes to one another in high school, or slipping a sweet little message into a locker?  As we get older, our love notes turn into quick text messages and a card on Valentine’s Day…let’s bring back the love note…the quintessential way to pour out our deepest feelings.  Consider buying some beautiful paper and a fancy pen to make it special and place it in a special location where your loved one can be surprised by its presence.  A good old fashioned love letter can really make your beloved feel adored. These letters can serve as a reminder of your love and commitment for years to come, the perfect keepsake to look back on.

Get Away…

Whether it is a romantic weekend or a week-long trip, plan something and get away.  For some reason a vacation (no matter how long or short, near or far) is a surefire way to reconnect with your partner.  Whether you choose a cozy cabin in the mountains, a tropical beach resort or a thrill-packed theme park, going away as a couple will build some lasting memories. BONUS TIP: Make this a recurring bucket list idea, every year getting away together is the ideal way to keep your bond strong.

Host a Dinner Party

Invite your friends and family over and showcase your culinary expertise (or catering skills).  Planning and executing a party together is a great way to spend time with one another and build lasting memories. Hosting a party together is the ultimate way to show off a new home, announce exciting news or celebrate your first month together as newlyweds.

Recreate Your First Date

It is always a great idea to re-live that magical moment you two met for the first time. Nothing beats that early-relationship magic, so why not try and recreate it for your next date night.  Whether you do it on the anniversary of your first date or just whenever you get a chance to spend some time together, reminiscing about the early days is a surefire way to feel the love.

Volunteer Together

Make a positive impact by giving back to your community. One of the greatest things you can do as a couple is to help out a charity or cause that you are passionate about.  Working together is a great way to make lasting memories while also making a difference.

Start a New Tradition

Create a tradition that is unique to your relationship; whether it is an annual trip, a monthly date night or a holiday tradition that can be passed down. Traditions are the stuff that memories are made out of and we love the idea of being able to pass down something that was created out of the love of two people. Traditions can be cherished for years to come and are a sentimental reminder of the power that two people can have.

Learn Something New Together

Whether you decide to take a cooking class, learn how to dance or explore the world of ceramics; trying something new together is a great way to spend time with one another.  Whatever you fancy, make sure to take those skills with you and use it again at home. Be open minded in your class and lean on each other when you need help, afterall, you are a team.

Celebrate Your Anniversary

Commemorate your love by celebrating every anniversary you wish to acknowledge; your first date, your engagement date and your wedding anniversary.  Celebrating these moments are important and should happen. Whether you plan on having dinner together, going dancing or jet-setting somewhere warm, make sure that you always make time to do something to celebrate your love.  These milestones are significant in your life and deserve to be revered.

Do an Aura Reading

Become one with the love and light that surrounds you.  Surprise and delight yourself with a couple’s aura reading to symbolize your energy and connection. Visit a fortune teller or a psychic to get your fortunes read. Share your predictions for the future and see how they match up.  A fun and extraordinary way to make memories and share in your future.

One of the best parts of a bucket list is the time and excitement devoted to the creation of it. Sitting down and planning your list is just as special as the time spent tackling each item.  It is so important to enjoy each other, try new things together and in turn grow in so many new ways as both an individual and a couple.  So this year we urge you to set some intentions for togetherness and fun.  We promise you won’t regret it.  Happy New Year!

Just as important as keeping the love alive once the wedding day is complete, is keeping it alive while in the planning process.  We know it is hard and time consuming and can sometimes take up every free moment you have, but remembering to cherish one another throughout is key to your future success as a married couple.  If you are currently in the planning process and need some help staying connected, take a look at our blog, Keeping the Love Alive While Planning Your Wedding.
